In line with previous editions, the Forum is a platform for setting the industry tone and focus for the year to come.
To offer the Three Seas Initiative member states a mechanism to contribute to the cohesion and wellbeing of the union
The twelve states’ drive for a more efficient European integration can be fueled by a direct contribution to the Union through a common commitment to achieving gender-parity in the digital field.
To stimulate concrete projects
for digital progress
The forum brings together decision-makers with aligned objectives, who spearhead and commit to concrete projects in fields where digitalization is the key source of growth.
To support and promote Romania's tech entrepreneurial ecosystem
Our country needs policies that are aligned to the international agenda, a cohesive direction based on a number of national priorities, and support not just from the Romanian state, but also from the European Union and our strategic partners.
BACKGROUND AND CONTEXT: Women Leadership in Industry 4.0
The first edition of the Digital Romania International Forum — Industry 4.0 was organized under the auspices of the Romanian Government in 2016. The Forum was keynoted by Klaus Iohannis, President of Romania; Dacian Ciolos, Prime Minister of Romania; and Gunther Oettinger, European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society. The 2016 forum focused on three key areas for the future of digitizing Romanian industry: smart/connected cars, smart cities, and agritech. The 2016 edition also marked the public launch by the President and Prime Minister of the Manifesto for a Digital Romania.
In 2017, the Digital Romania International Forum II tackled domains in full bloom at an international level: eHealth, Smart Manufacturing, Smart Cities, Smart Defense. Another topic discussed was The role of industry and entrepreneurship in the context of Romania’s Presidency of the EU Council. The 2017 edition looked to help catalyze the digitization of Romanian industry, to stimulate projects in energy, e-health, fintech and smart cities, to bring startups at the forefront of the conversation on digitalization, as well as to advocate for the establishment of Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH).
Romania has the second highest representation of women in the digital sector in the EU, at 26.3% as of 2016. It is time for this subject to become a national, regional, and European priority — and Romania, alongside the Three Seas member states, can lead the way, contributing to the development and progress of the Union.

Companies, biohackers, scientists, entrepreneurs and corporations are eagerly pursuing new applications for advanced technologies; this transcends the IT&C field as more and more healthcare companies design and integrate tech and digital tools into their projects and approaches.
Many of these digital tools are being actively designed to help people go beyond their ages— to be stronger, smarter, better-looking and more resilient, and to cultivate new abilities that seem like superpowers by the standards of the past. At the same time, healthcare companies extend their reach in the medical and patients communities with technology support.

As our society transitions to the digital age, we also witness the transition of all challenges — to our defense, our energy security, our food security, our financial security — into the digital realm. The digital future of Romania, of Europe, and of the transatlantic partnership depends on our ability to prepare for the security threats of the future, and the future is now: the digital realm is where military, economic, and ideological battles are being fought as we speak.
Our security is closely linked to European and NATO security — and Romania has the potential to demonstrate leadership and a dedication to the future of the Union and of the transatlantic partnership especially in the digital field, where innovation and talent are key.
